The USA is in need of far more than some new laws, regulations, and policies. It needs a thorough examination and review of its culture (i.e., its identity, values, priorities, choices)
And, in general, discussions of "mental health" - even on this list - are opaque regarding the culture of mental health. When I read what (some) people write, it's like many years ago reading about the "APA." Today PsySR is attentive to practices of the APA leadership regarding Guantanamo Bay, and individual advocacies as consolidated in the polity of Div. 41. In regards "mental health" in general, the stereotypes seem to maintain - so far - at quite a high level.
