Subject: Re: [psysr-disc] treating the symptoms
Your talk here is good because it engages some of the feelings relating to the current political arrangement.
When I spoke of that at the Conference last week, I said that "U.S. national policy is to 'behavior manage' the cultures of the world." Some of the documents may be trackedHERE through the work of anthropologist David Price. The critical perspectives that stem from that perspective - including liberation psychology - need more development in the discussion here.
There is also a related concern repeatedly expressed here regarding the current national project called the "psychology of terrorism," which aims to strengthen the above national policy. The "damage suffered by the flunkies" needs to be "treated" better and the attitudes promoting such dysfunctional outcomes need to be better "controlled." Or so we are given to understand.

The email below describes possible advances in treating symptoms.
The stated goal is: .. understanding of the function and regulation of the body system to maintain homeostasis, with an emphasis on the integration of the structure and functional systems within the human body. The course content ranges from cellular mechanisms to the major body organ systems, providing the basis for understanding physiologic derangements. But does this not address insane foreign policy and denial of inevitable horrors of war suffered by mere mortals.
Delusion #1: With enough firepower we can impose our values and Ambitions on the world.
Delusion #2: With enough drugs and psychotherapy we can heal the damage suffered by the flunkies we hire to implement our insane ambitions. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose
