Our workshop "Paths to Safety" last Sunday at Boston Alternatives 2017 went well.
What struck me especially was that our panelists who presented on lived experience of Safety Paths - Delphine Brody, Pamela Inaba, and Yvonne Smith - each spoke from the heart regarding their personal experience(s) in a deep and authentic manner: They were each awesome in the truth(s) presented and in their bravery in speaking to such a (potentially unsafe) topic.
When Alternatives makes available the recording, we will make effort to have that made accessible for listmembers.
Also, we attended a meeting of the National Coalition for Mental Health Reform (NCMHR), regarding the defunding of Alternatives by SAMHSA and the project of organizing Alternatives 2018: We helped bring forward the perspective of "culture change" in mental health, which would be (in some fashion) added to the present "peer support" in "healing communities" polity of NCMHR.
