Subject: [s-acc] "mental patient" creativity

Hi

Yesterday a political effort I imagined came to pass and the political result was "successful." Since I'm (officially) 'crazy' that couldn't be. In other words, we here have something to contribute to the well-being of the world. We can be workers: 'Madness' can be an asset to productivity.

I've worked since 2003 with the Coalition for Justice and Accountability (CJA) in the Silicon Valley. In that period we have constructed the lead multicultural advocacy against police abuse. Yesterday at the CJA monthly meeting, Congressperson Zoe Lofgren talked with the group for an hour. We discussed how to get the local police to "behave better."

I've been working now for some time with the feminist labor organization 9to5. I'd thank Eee, Fjn, Gko who are on this list for helping me connect and join: See HERE. Recently I suggested we make announcement to CJA regarding our upcoming conference (which [is planned to] deal with "Wage Theft" and the improper County hiring of client/survivors by the M.H. Division, as "dependent contractors"). That was put on the agenda and the 9to5 intern [who joined us] was able to speak after the Congressperson was done.

My belief is that bringing labor into the multicultural movement is progressive and will help in the struggle against police abuse. Due to my "madness" background, I happened to be in the "right time and place" to be able to spark the connection.
