I put in an application to do a "Mad Lives Matter" caucus in Memphis. To do that effectively - as we did at the San Jose Social Forum, means there would be several panelists. There we had each person talk to something important about their lives mattering and the relation to advocacy. Then the participants were able to speak in a like modality to their own lives, as well as to the social meaning.

Last year we were refused a "last minute" application to do Caucus at Orlando Alternatives. I'm willing to try that again: I'd do something akin to "Mad Lives Matter" were other(s) ready to collaborate on behalf of the Social Accountability Work Group. I need to hear a representation of such interest: The operant deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 30
I spoke in that regard with Nancy Scheper-Hughes, the medical anthropologist at U.C. Berkeley interest is in transforming the nature of the "mental health" paradigm, in alignment with the "Basaglia's Vision" project. She was interested - the construction leading to a workshop/caucus would take careful work and we might look towards 2016 for her involvement.
