Fab Four
  1. Download the home page template. Click on this link:  homeform.htm. Go to the ‘File’ menu and do ‘Save Page As’ (Firefox) or ‘Save As’ (IE). Save this file to your floppy on the a: drive
  2. The settings (crucial!) you want to use for saving are:
    File name:   index.html
    Save as type:   Web Page, HTML only
  3. Open the template file index.html in Notepad
  4. Working carefully, so as not to alter any text by mistake, find the phrase ‘STUDENT-NAME’
  5. Delete that phrase and replace it with your own name. Please use your full name in “human syntax” — first letter capitalized, etc.
  6. When you save the template file, use the settings:
    Files of type:   All Files
  7. Following the instructions in File Transfer Protocol, transfer the index.html file to your website
  8. You may visit your website! Your web address (URL) is:
    http://batstar.net/~yourusername  NOTE THE TILDE ~
  9. Later, when you have the picture you want to add, replace the word ‘PHOTOFILE’ by the file name of your picture. Be sure to include the .gif or .jpg extension. Again, save the file

  11. If you want to add a personal home page [3 points extra credit maximum], print out this text. Add it to your home page  index.html  — ask an instructional aide for assistance if needed
