Transfer files from/to your website using FTP

Suppose your website username is octopus

1. Open Internet Explorer®
2. Go to the web address
   
   

   ftp://octopus@ftp.batstar.net

3. When the dialogue box comes up, put in your username and password
4. This should give you a display of the files in your account, in the “My Computer” fashion
5. Using “My Computer” find the file(s) you wish to upload (or the folder where you want to download)
6. Now drag files back and forth as desired

Note that to work on a file, you need to do it on your computer. The traffic back and forth with the website brings the files back and forth to your workspace. You can't work on a file while it is on your website! You must download it, work on it, then upload the result (and overwrite what's there)
