“Standing Up to the Madness”  GOODMAN

‘Behavioral science’ should embrace the “struggle for freedom and human dignity” KING, JR.

‘Behavioral science’ is the tool for the management of ‘madness’. When will it sustain the values of “freedom and human dignity?”

If Amy Goodman wants to stand up to the madness she should start to reach out to those of us who are oppressed by the present path of ‘behavioral science’. We need to sustain the values of “freedom and human dignity” together.

The “client/survivor” movement should be treated with dignity. King argues

Every riot has carried strong overtone of hostility of lower class Negroes toward the affluent Negro and vice versa.

The same applies to those who face ‘treatment.’ Behavioral science often helps people, but it also can degenerate into torture. Big Pharma and its “affluent” NAMI advocacy are in ‘denial’. The logic of “learned helplessness” is the logic of the accommodation of torture. We should not be managed into behaving.

Instead, we need to advocate for dignity, together.
